My Original KITT

Aug 02. My KITT conversion started out as an 88 firebird. Below are a few pics of what the car looked like when I first bought it.

Fall 02. The following pictures are of restoration of the car. I had to have several things restored on the frame of the car. The front bumber and scanner that you see was purchased from Mark's Custom Kits. The fenders were cut and redone to look like Trans Am fenders with air extractors. The rear bumper was off an 82 Trans Am. All the work was done by Bice Automotive.

Fall 02. Here comes the paint. I decided to go with a base coat, clear coat urethane paint setup. I think that it looks the best. Plus the clear coat also helps with lessoning the amount of rock chips. Everything was eched and painted except for the inside floor pan and the engine compartment. Those will be delt with at a later time when I work on those areas.

Fall 02. Below are the pictures of when I first drove my car home. It was exciting seeing all the people looking at my car. It was a wonder if they were looking at it because of the outside paint job, or the fact that the inside interior was practically gone. The door panels, headliner, and most of the accessories were off of the car. I had to put all of those back on, which was fine with me. I was just happy to have my car painted.

Fall 02. The DASH. The dash was also purchased through Marks Custom Kits. I wanted to go with the 3rd and 4th season look of KITT. So I chose to go with the one tv dash setup. The pictures show some of what it took to setup and install the dash into the car. I had to customize some of my own fiberglass pieces to make the dash look more like it belonged in the car, instead of something just put in there. Also added were the front fog lights (3 sets), 82-84 Trans Am Taillights, and the famous PMD seats.

Spring 03. Here we have the cars exterior pretty much completed. I have added the turbo finned rims and hubcaps. Also have added the blackout piece for the taillights. Also included are pictures of the dash working and lit up and the dvd player working. The steering wheel was purchased from Advance Designs In Automotive Technology (Don Colie).

Exterior Almost Done!

Initial Dash Complete!

Winter 04. Recently I have recieved the very hard to find ground effects for my conversion. Special thanks to AJ for helping me. The pictures are after I had painted them. They are a little hazy because of fingerprints and dust. This completes the outside conversion to the car.

Spring 05. The start of the interior. I purchased my door panels from Marks Custom Kits and all the rest of my interior is from Hawks Third Gen. I took time to tear down the car to the frame. Painted the frame to match the rest of the car. Put Dynamat in it and carpet padding. Put new carpet and painted my trim. Reupholstered all seats and new headliner as well.

Summer 04. I forgot to mention that last summer, I redone a center console from a 82 Trans Am. This includes the hard to find shifter knob. Plus I purchased the lighted gas pedal, this item is a must for 3rd and 4th season conversions.

Spring 05. Well here it is!!! My completed interior. After a couple weeks of work. It is now complete.

Spring 05. I finally have finished my lower console. It was purchased out of the mold from Marks Custom Kits. I designed and fabricated the grill for the buttons, plus did all the painting. The remote on top of the lower console is for the DVD player. A few of the other pictures show some more of the interior.

Winter 06. The pictures below are of my completed upper console. The mold is purchased from Marks Custom Kits. The rest was custom built by myself. I used several pics to get close to accurate and add more features to it.

Spring 06. The following pictures are of a redesigned tv bezel. I wanted to follow the look of the tv show. So I purchased a 8" touchscreen tv. Which works awesome with my computer programs and voice programs. The upper and lower console buttons actually control several features of the car. One of the features is to also control the tv functions. I also added a camera.

The most question I get asked more and more is "Does the car talk?" YES IT DOES!!!!

I have made a computer program that works with voice recognition.
